At the MLK Food Park tomorrow from 12-4 p.m., Green Careers Dallas will be selling LED light bulbs for the discount offered by Home Depot ($1 each). We'll have a few other energy saving items for local residents who need a break on electricity bills.

Energy poverty is defined by Texas Energy Poverty Research Institute as a household spending more than 6% of income on energy bills. South Dallas/Fair Park suffers the worst urban poverty in all of North Texas, has many older homes yet no Home Depot or Lowe's nearby. So we're bringing discounted LED energy saving bulbs to you.

LED lightbulbs are the quickest, least expensive way to reduce energy bills. Well also have info on Oncor's energy efficiency program plus copies of North Texas Renewable Energy Group's DIY Energy Efficiency checklist to give out.

We'll also have a sign up sheet for any group that would like us to present info on energy efficiency, as well as sign up for employment training.
